1 v 1 to goal

Two players face each other, one on edge of D and one behind dotted line (equidistant from cones) One ball outside left cone and one outside right cone. The yellow player moves side to side between the cones and the defender must shadow/follow. Attacker tries to fake/dummy and create space to pick one of the balls and drive to goal 1 v 1.

Focus on defending! Positioning - going from square on to then drop stepping and channelling the attacker. On toes weight forward at start. Read attackers body/cues. Don't dive in or get caught too close.

Go one after the other and then swap which team attacks.

4 v 4 chaos

4 v 4 in the playing area. Extra players from each team stand on the end lines. These players can be passed to during the game.

Rules- no hitting at goal only push/flick and sweeps for deflections. If the defensive team win the ball after the attacking team has shot they cannot straight away shoot at that goal, they must make on pass before they can shoot.

Teams can shoot at either goal.

Focus is on defence, It will be busy and chaotic. Man to man mark and be tight on your player- goal side! Shouldn't really have to change/pass on players.  Apply pressure and force opposition to pass back or go to the other goal. Be ready for rebounds off the goalie!

Play for 4 mins then swap teams in. Can be 3v3 if numbers low.

1v2 defensive overload

1 v 2 with a trailing defender. Can add 2 goals and have all channels go at the same time if big numbers.

Right side/middle/left channel.

Attacker passes ball to defender and gets it back to start the drill. Trailing defender can't go until attacker has picked up the ball.

Defenders must work together to try and channel attacker away from goal/apply pressure/delay attack/double team/win ball

Can the trailing defending apply pressure or are they too far away? If they can't then can they loop behind other defender to give depth and send the initial defender to apply pressure/channel onto them to tackle. Try get pressure to ball OUTSIDE of the D. Protect your feet and work together. Be agile and side on- show them where you want them to go!
