Description: Middle third build up vs a 4-4-2. Ball always starts from a throw-in from Josh or Jose.
Key points: Connar/Steven must play on the outside shoulder of their man if they have one. Try to attract the FB on that side so play narrower so we can move the ball wide and behind to our winger for an early service. Mason, Jose, Josh all very active to receive underneath when front 5 are pressured from behind.

Defending the build out vs 4-2-3-1: FIU Scout team build out with split CBs and 2 midfielders trying to find the ball. Everything is short and they will try to combine to go forward instead of going long. VERY patient, scout team should be prepared to overplay until it is not possible, when they can now find it over the top.
Key points: 9 presses from inside, 10 joins high and goes to ball side midfielder. Weak side winger comes into the weak side central midfielder and is ready to steal any underhit pass across the field. PRESS STARTS AT 25-30 YARDS OUT

Description: Attacking team will start with a throw-in in defensive third. Clock will only run for the duration of their possession and stop every time they lose the ball. Attacking team must get to 8 mins in possession. Every goal they score = 1 min added to their running time. Every goal conceded = -2 minutes from running clock. Scout team move from 4-2-4 (defending high) to 4-4-2 (defending middle and deep) to 4-2-3-1 (attacking).
Key points: Value the ball and keep it moving. Pick the time to go forward and if it isn't available, keep it rotating.

Description: Bounce pass with near side FB. Vertical pass into 8, bounce into 6. 6 plays it early and in front of wide player. 9 has checked towards the ball as 6 plays the pass incase we can play inside, must now turn and make the box. Weak side winger comes to the back post for the cross if the timing has been as quick as possible, otherwise, he is an extra runner. Coach then punts/throws a second ball from the endline to simulate a transition moment. Weak side FB and 6 ready in place to deal with a transition by tucking in to create a box.

Description: Build out vs a 4-2-4. Mason looks to find the ball behind the front 2 which play flat. As he finds it, 1 of opposition midfielders ready to press behind. Mason finds a bounce pass to inverted FB or showing CB. Goal is to find free man around the 6 when one of midfielders overcommits.
Key points: Must find the bounce pass underneath. If we play things underneath and quickly, the free man will be one of our 8s or a winger in space behind.
