1v1 (10 mins)

THE SESSION:

- Red passes the ball to the Yellow who controls the ball and attacks Red who closes down.

- Yellow now must try to score in gate A or B by dribbling through under control

PROGRESSION:

3 points for scoring in gate C.

Counter Attacking_2v1 (10 mins)

THE SESSION:

- Coach will pass to Blue player and play 2v1

- Ideally two depender win the balll and try counter attacking

- Blue can score two mini goals

- When Red team win the ball ,can score big goal

PROGRESSIONS:

-Add goalkeeper

Counter attack 1 (15 mins)

THE SESSION:

Blue dribbles at speed and finishes at the line.

Next 2 x yellow players enter and attack goal 2 v 1

Next 2 x blues then attack 3 v 2

Next 2 x yellows then attack 4 v 3

If the defending team win BP they attempt to score 1 v 2 / 2 v 3 etc

Coaching points

Force attackers away from red zone

Delay and deny

Wait for correct moment to challenge

Split the attackers EG 3 v 2 split to isolate 2 v 2 or 2 v 1

Body position to retain vision of all attackers

when 2 v 3 and 3 v 4 defend as a unit (split and isolate)

Counter attack 2 (20 mins)

THE SESSION:

2 attackers have 5-10 yards head start. Goalkeeper and 2 defender 5 yards from the goal Coach on the side with the balls

Set up: 3 attackers facing one defender and goalkeeper and behind them three defenders ready to come on when the ball is played, simple to begin with coach pass to any red player. So the situation is 2 attackers and 2 defender and the goalkeeper.

Attacker in the center passes left or right or dribbles. Coach shouts 1-2 or 3 to indicate the number of defenders. Attackers attempt to score. Defenders must press, delay and recover.

Coach shouts 1 and 1 defender recovers. 1st Defender near goal applies delayed pressure to the ball carrier. Recovery defender supports. Keeper and 1st defender communicate to recovering defender. Ideally defender get the ball, transition quickly and score

KEY MESSAGES/POINTS: Press, Delay, and Make play predictable-reduce options.

Keeper; positioning to prevent goal, communicate to both defenders.

Recovery defender is able to intercept a pass. Must include a defensive objective. Defenders transition well and score.

THE SESSION:

20x38 yard area

-Play4 v4 in middle area with 2 end zones.

-Team in possession in middle zone attempts to play quickly and get into the end zone to score. A goal is scored when the ball is dribbled into the end zone and stopped with the sole of the foot.

PROGRESSIONS:

-Start with the ball in their hands

-Make the area smaller/ bigger to be more challenging for the players

KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:

-Communication (verbal, visual, eye contact)

-Mobility to create space

-Play to the target player quickly once they move to receive

-When regaining possession, attackers should try to make decisions early to expose the space behind or to the side of an unbalanced defence.

-Quality, rhythm, tempo
