Obedience Fitness game (20 mins)
Session Objective: To develop possession, reaction and fitness.
Organisation:Two players off each end,two teams,NO BIBS.Start play, team in possession have to play at least three passes before they can play to end players,Receiving end player plays across to other player who plays it back to team in possession and so on.
Players are told they must obey instruction of coach whatever command is,
If player gives ball away he will be ordered to sprint around one pole (e,g,A.)..If this is not done at top speed, all players in same team will be commanded to run around pole.
B,C and D offer examples of additional runs players may be commanded to do if ball given away.
The idea of the game is that as players have no bibs and players going off the pitch frequently, players will make more errors and as a result have to do more fitness sprints.
Players who are not fully involved or not performing at their best in terms of commitment will also be ordered by the coach to undertake a specific run. This they must do immediately, hence showing obedience.
It is a possession game but main emphasis is creating opportunities for short sharp sprints.
Key Factors:
Touch in possession and movement to create space.
Speed of reaction and speed of movemnt when running to poles on command.
