Rondo and Sprint (15 mins)

Fun Warm up

3 x (10x10) squares with a 10m sideline

 

Aim

Players pass the ball un-opposed for approx 1-2 min blocks when the whistle is blown by the coach all players must sprint to point one and then to point 2 as quick as possible and stand with the ball under control to finish, the slowest team has to do a forfiet.

 

The player in possesion of the ball must dribble.

 

Coaching mechanics

Passing, Dribbling, turning and running with the ball.

 

Progression

3v1 in the rondos, (Att v Def in the race).

 

Have 2 coloured cones in each hand raise the your hand to with coloured cone and the players have to shout the colour as soon as its raised to increase awareness.

Basic Overlap 2v1 (20 mins)

Aim

Overlap into a 2v1 situation.

 

Explain when and why we would use this in a real game scenario.

The player that recieves the pass is to create space for the overlapper.

SSG (20 mins)

Aim

The objective of the game is for the central player to play a pass to the attacker and exit the square to overlap and help support the attack.

 

The central player must stay in the box and can only leave the box to create the overlap.

 

Start the SSG conditionless and end the SSG conditionless

 

Encourage 1 or 2 touch passes.

 

Objective for defenders is to retain the ball and be paitent until they can find the pass to the central player.

 

Objective for Central player is to move around and create the angle and demand the pass when available.

 

Objective for attackers is to encourage overlap and to move centrally to create space for the overlap.
