3v3 Wave Game

Organisation:

  • 3v3 Small Sided Game
  • Option is to play winner stays on or both teams go off once a score/time limit is reached. (Max time 2 mins for players being inactive)

Modify:

  • Make 2v2/4v4

Attacking KP's:

  • Quality Passing - Timing, Weight, Accuracy (+10 years)
  • Soft touches - control
  • Big touches - to go past the defender
  • Change of speed/direction to beat opponent
  • Movement to Receive (+11 years)
  • Playing with head up - scanning

Defending KP's:

  • Delay
  • Show away from goal
  • Pressing - who, why, where
  • Cover & balance - teammates
  • 'High to low' & 'Fast to slow' 'jockey'

Transition KP's:

  • Quick Reaction to winning/losing possession
  • Can we regain possession quickly (defenders)?
  • Can we play forward and score quickly (attackers)?

Questions:

  • Where could I stand to support my teammate on the ball if he is under pressure?
  • When we are attacking, do we want to make the pitch big or small (and why?)?

3v1 Rondo

Organisation:

  • 3v1 Rondo as shown
  • Attacking team look to pass 5 times to score
  • If attacking team lose possession/ball goes out of play then the player who made the mistake must run and collect another ball and bring it back.
  • After the team have used the 3 footballs then the defender is changed.
  • See which group can hold onto their footballs the longest.

Modify:

  • Make 4v1/4v2

Attacking KP's:

  • Quality Passing - Timing, Weight, Accuracy (+10 years)
  • Movement to Receive (+11 years)

Organisation:

  • 5 players - 1v1 inside the box
  • The attacker (in blue) looks to receive and play a 1 touch pass off any of the outside players.
  • If the defender wins possession, they become the attacker.
  • Try to make 3 passes to then swap with another outside player.

Modify:

  • Take away one/two balls, make more difficult for attacking player.

Organisation:

  • 4v2 Rondo as shown
  • Attacking team look to pass 5 times to score
  • After 1 minute change the 2 middle defenders.

Modify:

  • Attacking Team score a point if pass is played between the defenders.
  • If a defender wins the ball back, they look to dribble outside the area and stop the ball to score a point.

  • Movement to Receive
  • Playing with head up - scanning
  • Body shape - receive on back foot
  • Communication - call for the ball

3v3 High Intensity Overloads

Organisation:

  • All players are restricted to their zones and designated starting point until a forward pass is made into the scoring zone. 
  • Play becomes open when the ball enters the scoring zone.
  • The team attacking will attempt to work the ball into the scoring zone before attempting to exploit the overload scenario created.
  • The defending team will attempt to win the ball and score in any of the two target goals in order to reverse team roles. 
  • When a forward pass is made into the scoring zone the defending team will have one player race back as a recovery run from a designated starting point.

Attacking KP's:

  • Quality Passing - Timing, Weight, Accuracy
  • Movement to Receive
  • Playing with head up - scanning
  • Body shape - receive on back foot
  • Communication - call for the ball
  • Timing of runs

Defending KP's:

  • Pressing - who and how?
  • Delay - be patient
  • 'High to low' & 'Fast to slow' 'jockey'
  • Split attackers

Transition KP's:

  • Quick Reaction to winning/losing possession

Organisation:

  • All players are restricted to their zones and designated starting point until a forward pass is made into the scoring zone.
  • The team attacking will attempt to work the ball into the scoring zone before attempting to exploit the overload scenario created.
  • The red defender can drop to defender once the forward in the scoring zones receives the ball.
  • The defending team will attempt to win the ball and score in any of the two target goals.
  • Switch roles regularly.
