Description

Mechanics

  • From set position
  • Closest leg to which way you are going to dive, steps in direction of dive, and a foot length forward
  • Stepping leg bends slightly to provide the power of the dive
  • Hands head in direction of the ball
  • Eyes remain fixed on ball
  • W’s technique generally as it will be chest and above, though sometimes a cup maybe needed
  • Catching ball with same technique as in general handling
  • DIVE FORWARDS – Attacking the ball

Warm Up (10 mins)

Set Up

  • GK starts in the middle of the goal behind the centre cone
  • GK runs to the middle cone and then sets and is served a low shot to the right side then repeats for each cone
  • Once a shot from this cone is completed, the GK restarts working on the left side.

Progression

  • The shots can be either side and server will call the number that the GK will go to

Technical (5 mins)

GK sets in the middle of the goal, on the GK coach signal, the GK will come to the 1st server and receive a low shot across goal. The GK will reset into the middle of the goal then receive a central shot and reset ready to receive a 3rd shot from the last server.

Progression

  • Coach will take a moving shot at low or mid height
