In the 4-4-2 Diamond the front 3 are responsible for working together  to force the back 4 into making rushed decisions that lead to mistakes. The tow 9s are are invite the pass to either the CB or R/LB and immediately press the player receiving. When that happens the false 9/#10 has to make sure that there is no option into the 6.

If they send another 6 to help our 8 must follow, (man mark) to force them to play the ball over the long.

In a 4-3-3 the 9 has to begin the press. He must angle his pressure to keep the CBs to one side. This will help the rest of the group because play has been made predictable. Clogging passing lanes are everything. It freezes your opponent and leads to a lot of backwards passes and turnovers all over the pitch.
