Key Factors
Not an easy exercise to turn into a SSG. However, the key is to create the envirnoment where corners are likely to occur frequently.
Organisation
8v8 game including keepers.
The pitch is 60yds long and full-width.
Both teams line up in a 1-3-2-3 formation. and both have 5 passes in which to shoot.
Corners are incurred as normal however any save by the keeper (even if it stays in play) earns a corner (unless a striker scores from the rebound immediately)
Goals from corners are worth 2 points.
Coaching Points
The structure of this session favours neither side, so both should have plenty of attacking and defending corners to deal with.
Remember only to coach one side in defending corners
Coaching points are then as per the MDG

Key Factors
Corner-kicks are a major part of football and a potent weapon for any attacking team.
It is therefore imperative that teams have a specific plan for dealing with corners.
This drill ca be scaled up or down depending upon the number of players available but it does require a minimum of 8 on each side to be realistic (maximum 11)
Organisation
I'm old-fashioned in my set-up for corners; I like front & back post covered, one person at the front of the 6 yard box and one person - the best header in the team - located in the centre of the goal on the 6-yard box.
With those in place, I leave one quick player up in attack (this should tie up two defenders).
This leaves 5 players to man-mark the remaining attackers
The attackers - in this case Blue - are likely to leave one screen player deep in midfield, so my 5 man-markers will be picking up 6 attackers. This means they must be aggressive when attacking the ball in the air and react quickly to any knock-downs.
The player at the front of the 6-yard box must react if the ball goes beyond him and close down any free players.
The Drill
Blues get 5 attempts from each side to score a goal.
If one of those attacks is cleared for a corner, they get a "free go".
Reds aim is to clear he ball beyond the ellow marker discs. (NB If we have sufficient players, can play the lone striker and the Reds goal becomes to clear the ball to him - brief the striker on the movement expected of him.)
Coaching Points
Be organised - get into position and react to what happens
Be aware of the corner-taker - left or right-footed coupled with the side of the field = in or out-swinging corner
Attack the ball and be determined
If a short corner is likely, player on the front post and front edge of 6yd box close down the opponents.
