Animation 2 (20 mins)

Session Organisation:

• 6 cones (split each third into 2x boxes) = 6x6
• 2 large cones (for second coach to create gate)
• 10 flat markers (split pitch in thirds)
• 6 balls
• Pitch Size: 18m x 12m
• 6 attackers
• 3 defenders (bibbed)

Coaching Points:

• Attacking players are limited to one box each
• Defenders are free to roam any box (technically they can create a 3v1)
• Attacking team to keep the ball
• Defenders to win back possession
• Defenders stay central and keep attackers from playing the ball through the middle of them while pushing (PRESSING) to win the ball back
• Defenders win the ball, make 5 passes and then ball back to coach

PROGRESSION/NEW COACHING FOCUS **BLOCK CENTRAL PASS AT ALL COSTS**:

• Introduce the 2 large cones and create a gate in the middle of the middle third.
• Introduce the 2 goals (few yards away from pitch) for defenders to break into and score
• Attack look to penetrate with a pass breaking central areas and splitting the defence
• Defenders must prevent the ball from being played through the gate AT ALL COSTS
