Objectives
1. To look to switch play effectively using the backline.
2. Effectively use ball speed to successfully switch the play.
3. Find the spare player in possession.
Organisation
9v9
The game starts with the blue team goalkeeper; they look to distribute the ball to a DF or a DMF and then they will start to attack towards the red team goal with a heavy emphasis on switching play. To ensure this is as realistic as possible, the red team will look to remain narrow and compact while maintaining pressure on the ball at all times.
What-ifs?
What if the opposite CDF and DMF are screened/marked and you are the other CDF? You can look to use either goalkeeper and switch the play through them or you can use the near-side FB and bounce the ball to them to receive the ball again off of them to change the picture to be able to switch the play using the backline.
What if the CDFs is screened when trying to receive the ball from a FB? The 6 should or the ball side 8 or 10 should be open to receive the ball to help aid the switch of the play.
What if both the CDFs and 6 are screened/marked? There can be an option to directly switch the play to the opposing side.
Challenges
'Can we look to maintain width as much as possible.'
'Can you look to combine to create space to switch the play.'
'Can we move the ball quickly to give the red team little time to get set and in shape.'
Conditions
The ball starts with the team that would've received it if it went out of play.
If the red team wins the ball, they have 10 seconds to score.
Targets
1 goal if a goal is scored in normal play.
2 points if a goal is scored from a switch of play.

Organisation
7v8
The blue team will start the game with the CDF playing the ball into either the central area to a MDF or a wide area so that they can start an attack with the main area of focus being switching play. The players need to look to transfer the ball from an outside third to the far side third to be able to make the red team disjointed and allow for openings where they can look to create goalscoring opportunities.
What-ifs
What if the 6 is screened when trying to receive the ball from a FB? The CDF should be available to receive the ball, as the 9 will most likely be the player screening the 6.

Challenges
'As the blue No.6, can you drop deeper than the ball to create an angle where you can receive on the back foot to switch the ball.'
'As a blue team FB, can you look to remain as wide as possible to create width and space to be able to receive the switch.'
'Red team FBs, when the ball is on the far side, can you leave the FB wide and tuck in to help apply pressure on the ball.'
Conditions
Ball restarts from the CDF at every restart of the game. The trigger to start the game is when the red DF are outside the d on the edge of the box.
