Organization: On Field 10-20x8-15 yards. 2 Equal Teams. 2 Large Goals. Goalkeepers
Game Rules: Player on post plays pass to player in central area of field and runs forward. Player 2 plays ball into path of player 1 who runs on to ball and shoots in 1-3 touches. Player 1 becomes the target player after shooting. Player 2 collects ball and rotates off field. Next 2 players go immediately.
Modification/Challenge:
- Less challenging - Remove pass component (player dribbles onto field and takes shot. Remove Goalkeepers.
- More challenging - make it a contest between 2 teams. Award +2 points if a player can score off a volley (target can flick up or pick-up)
Coaching Points: Positive, aggressive mindset running onto the layoff pass. Crisp pass into target and weighted layoff from target. Technical passing and receiving with inside of foot. Coaching technical ball striking - balance, elongated last step, surface of foot to strike ball, plant foot location, etc.
