SSG - TWO-HALF POSSESSION/TRANSITION GAME - (OPPOSED 25 mins) - REACTION TO TRANSITION
ORGANIZATION
14 to 16 players, balls, cones, color vests,4 counter goals.
FUNCTION DETAILS
This is a two-half possession/transition game in which the playing area is split into two halves. In each half,a maximum of a 4 V 2 (plus the possible addition of a neutral player) overload is played out.
Play starts with a 5 V 2 overload for one team in one half of the pitch. , THE 8 TEAM players attempt to retain the ball for 10 passes, 5 passes at each half = to a goal.
If the DEFENDERS regain possession they are able to score immediately at any of the counter goals, if they maintain possession and switch the play to score at the other half = 3 goals.
The four other attacking players players two DEFENDING players rest in the other half of the pitch.
DEFENDING TWO pressing players try to steal the ball and score in one of the two mini-goals ahead of them.• Alternatively, they can play into the goalkeeper in that half, who is positioned in a safe zone and cannot be pressed, or turn and play into their inactive team mates in the opposite half of the playing area
If the DEFENDERS achieves any of those targets, a transition is initiated. The picture then reverses in the opposite half of the playing area.
If the transition originates from the goalkeeper, they should play long into one of the four players in the opposite half of the pitch. The two opposition players inthat half cannot intercept the 1st ball.
Two players from each team should move into theopposite half of the grid, thus forming a 6v4 overload infavour of Team in possession.
PROTECT THE SPACE/PROTECT THE GOAL
• The team in possession, whose aim is to reach 10passes, must be set to defend any turnover.
• The second the ball is lost, they should attempt to CLOSE THE SPACE ( Deny and Delay)and prevent the four opposition playersfrom finishing in a mini-goal, finding the goalkeeper orplaying into the opposite half.

ORGANIZATION
11 players, 4 counter goals, balls, color vests, cones, mannequins
FUNCTION DETAIL
This practice begins with a 4v1 rondo taking place inside the square in the middle of the play area.
Once the single (PLAYER = ATTACKING) steals the ball, he will attempt to play out to one of their team mates positioned outside the SQUARE. This is the beginning of the practice’s (RECOVERY TRANSITION) – a 5v4 (excluding the goalkeepers) that takes place over the entire playing area.
Once the POSSESSION team have lost possession in the central square , the four (DEFENDERS)players must attempt to regain the ball from the five (ATTACKING) players, who must try to retain possession.
If THE ATTACKING TEAM makes 10 passes, = a goal.• Should DEFENDERS steal the ball back, their aim is to score in either of the full-sized goals, or the counter goals.

To begin with, the DEFENDERS are not allowed to press either goalkeeper when the ball is in their end zone.
PROGRESSION
DEFENDERS are allowed to press the Gk's
COACHING POINTS
COACHING DETAIL:
OUT OF POSSESSION - AGGRESSIVE PRESSING
• The four pressing players from the DEFENDING TEAM should hunt in packs, attempt to cut the passing lines available to the1st attacker and win possession.
• The first pressing player should set the tone by communicating loudly that he is setting a press.
IDENTIFY THE PRESSING TRIGGERS
• DEFENDING TEAM should be on the hunt for the pressing triggers in the opposition play. These could be slow passes, poor touches, passes played in the air or the first forward pass from one of the goalkeepers.
COACHING DETAIL:
IN POSSESSION - FIRE IN THE BELLY, ICE IN THE HEAD• When DEFENDERS regains possession after having show aggression in their defensive transition, they should show an icy mentality in possession (4 P'S - PICTURE, PATIENCE, POSSESSION, PENETRATING passes)
• This means CALM in possession that allows them to retain possession and spread the game.
IN POSSESSION, IN POSITION
DEFENDING TEAM should also ensure that, as they are maintaining possession, their players are well-positioned to circulate the ball but also to avoid any turnovers of possession.
• This applies in particular to the players positioned in front of either goal.
