Welsh Way Principles - Understand when and how to stop a switch of play based on the pressure applied by the defending team
Organisation / Area Size:
Area size is 36m wide by24m long
Play 3v3 + 1 common player centrally (in yellow) with the other players filling the corner areas.
Explanation:
Both teams can 'score' by combining within half of the pitch with a minimum three passes and then passing the ball into the opposite respective corner. The 'corner' player then drives into the central area and play continues. This gives the coach the opportunity to work with the defensive principles of stopping a switch of play. If possession is won early (EG the reds here) they would adhere to the 'in possession" principles of swtiching play
1. Pressure on the ball and force the direction of play
2. Breaking passing lines
3. Defending narrow
4. Leaving the furthest player/s
5. Stopping the switch of play
Coach A will be coaching the team 1, coach B will be managing team 2.
