Corner Kick Set up
Corner Kick Set up:
FOUR principles of set piece play:
What, where, who, when and how must be keep in mind
1) Be Prepared: know exactly WHAT your responsibility is;
2) Be Organized: know exactly WHERE on the pitch you should be;
3) Be Aware: know exactly WHO is where at all times;
4) Be Active: know WHEN to move and HOW to get where you need to go -- Get to the ball!
We must not get caught off guard on set pieces – Set up correctly and quickly as indicated below...
Kicker must take his time and make sure the team is set up properly. All players communicate and help each other to get into the set up correctly
Roles -
9 - get directly in front of the Keeper to distract and annoy (just don't push or use hands, but stay annoyingly in front of him) be ready to tap in any ball close
10 - get a little beyond far back post to stop and shoot in any ball that may go directly past the keeper
11,7,6 - looking to be strong and crash the goal when the ball is kicked (timing is important!). Use head preferably to score or ONE TIME volley shot if ball is lower. Be confident!
2,3 - stay 25-30 yards out from goal for any ball that pops out of the crowd and shoot fast, hard and low with a low driven shot that will be hard for the keeper to see and may deflect of players in front of the goal
4,5 - hold back to stop any break away attack that may happen real fast if ball pops out. If it does just delay the attack by staying in front of attacker shepherding them away from the goal so cover can arrive. No need to try to tackle or win the ball.
