Key points:
Session works as follows. Focus is on the blue team in attacking possession play. Blue team must try and move the ball from one yellow player to the other to gain a point. The middle yellow player is a floater, who can be used to form an overload. The team out of possession must try and win the ball back off the other team. The players must stay within the square they were allocated to to begin the session. Progressions will then be introduced.
Players keep count of number of times successfully reach other side.
Purpose:
Session will be based on players learning how to maintain possession and use it purposefully.
The session will encourage the players to be able to make the killer pass
Players should be able to create and exploit an overload
Players should be able to use movement to create space or find space.
Progression/regression:
- Extra defensive player allowed into the other box, reduce numerical advantage attacking team did have.
- Limit time attacking team has to move the ball from one side to the other.
- Get rid of the line down the middle, players can move freely within the area.
- Points gained for killer pass being performed or for maintaining possession for 5 end to ends.
Contingency for different number of players:
- (11-15), play as set up, can adjust the players on red and blue

Equipment:
Two different sets of coloured cones, 3 sets of bibs or 2 sets and non bibs, multiple footballs
Key points:
More position specific element to the session. Set up as a 2-1-2-1 to represent the spine of the team, goals are in use, however can only score into the bottom corners of the goal. This is to prevent long range shots unless they are with high accuracy. Therefore ensuring they shoot only when it reaches the attacking players. Will lead into the game, when the players should have a better positional understanding of their roles.
Purpose:
Players should develop positional understanding of the role
Players should be able to make and exploit space
Players should be more confident on the ball and being able to make the killer pass
Progression/regression:
- Players must make 7 passes before scoring a goal
- Time limit on the ball of 5 seconds, limit touches if required for one player
Contingency for different number of players:
- (11-15), play as set up, can adjust the players on red and blue
- 15 + add extra player to each team of blue and red, increase area size if needed.
