Technical (10 Minutes) (5 mins)

Organisation:

Practice is set for 45 minutes for our U12 age group. Two small 15x15m boxes have been marked out using cones creating a carousel for two groups to play simultaneously, players are separated into two teams using bibs. Players numbered 1 will start with the ball.

Objective:

During the technical practice players will look to pass the ball around their marked square. Player 1 starts with the ball playing it anti-clockwise to the following player, once they have played their pass they must follow it and take the following players place. Each player must follow their pass to the next corner once they have released the ball.

Mechanics:

- Cushion the ball to control it

- Positioning of standing foot

- Inside of the foot pass

- Eye contact/Head up.

Skill (15 Minutes) (10 mins)

Organisation:

A 30x30m Box is setup, this can be adjusted due to how easy/difficult our players find the task.

Objective:

3 team rondo, the first team (reds) stay outside of the area and act as an outlet, teams two (blue) and three (green) compete for possession with one team defending. Reds are always on offense, green team will defend first against red and blues, once green win possession they team up with red and switch with the blue team. Teams rotate and each get a chance to play in the middle aswell as outside.

Conditions, challenges and targets:

Can you make 3 successful passes before passing to a red?

Can you take 2 or less touches on the ball?

If you make 5 successful passes you score a point.

Small sided game (20 Minutes) (20 mins)

Organisation:

Using half of a 9v9 pitch, we have divided our pitch into thirds using cones.

Objective:

A positioning based scrimmage where the idea is to find space off the ball. It's a 6v4, coach will feed the ball into the attacking team (blue), the objective is for the attacking team to pass their way to the other end, for the team to score a point a player on the team must receive a pass successfully in one of the three goals marked by cones. The defensive team (red) can only operate within the middle of the field therefore they must work on their positioning and communication to win the ball. If this is too difficult for the attacking team, remove the cones and the thirds.
