Instructions:
Players split up evenly attackers v defenders. Defenders go behind the goals and the attackers in the middle of the pitch.
Defenders will start with the ball, they will pass into the attacking player.
Attacking player will dribble and take a shot at goal
Defender will apply pressure and tackle
Variations:
If time permits, vary the attackers v defenders 2v1, 3v2
Mechanics of Shooting
1. Identify target
2. Body position in relation to ball
3. Arms out for balance
4. Non-kicking foot beside the ball
5. Head over the ball
6. Select surface & strike: e.g., laces.
7. Follow through towards target
During the repetition the coach will emphasis the key mechanices of shooting
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
+ Perform variations with more attackers
+ Add a GK for more realistic outcome
+ Players have to shoot with 2 touches or within 3 seconds
- Removed the defender or defender can only shadow
- Add a defending zone that defenders have to stay within
- Reduce the distance between the goal and starting position for the attackers
Conditions/Challenges/Targets
Players score extra points for hitting designated target zones ( bottom or top corners)
Defenders score a point for intercepting or blocking a shot

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
+ Two touch limit by all players to encourage quicker shooting decisions and faster ball movement
+/- 2v1, 2v2 scenarios in attacking third
- Remove all rules, attacking zone. Free play

Players split up evenly behind the starting line facing a mini goal
Players will dribble with the ball from the starting line and shoot into a mini goal. Retrieve their ball and pass to the next teammate in line.
