Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Att in Mid-third (playing through the back line)

Main Activity (30 mins)

Organization:

• 2 grids (20x20)
• Split the team evenly into three groups
• Goals placed 8 yards behind the line

Instructions:

• 4v4+2
• The red team must collect 3 passes before playing to the far side neutral (yellow)
• Farside neutral has two touches and must play to the team who passed it in as they transition
• The red team must attempt to score before the blue team is able to recover
• If scored Red team keeps possession
• If not scored Blue team gains possession
• Two neutrals on sides act as bumpers for team in possession with ball
• If blue team recovers ball from red team, they begin completing the passing requirement before leading to goal

Coaching Points/Questions:

• Reaction time in responding to transitions
• Firm passes with the inside part of the foot (locking ankle)
• Recognize open space to start run
• Turning on the ball
• Utilize number advantage on the width

Progressions:

• Two touches for everyone

Regressions:

• Lower passing requirement

Match (20 mins)

Organization:

• Same Dimensions
• If second big net is being used, combine two  mini nets together to create a larger goal section or place down cones to mark out regular net size
