grid size 20/20 split into four smaller squares
4v4, box v diamond. focus on box (red team)
one player per team in each square, must always occupy every sqaure. free to move/rotate as long as every square remains occupied (time allowed for transition).
neutral full backs and striker/cb on outside, any team can use these players, limited to 2 touch.
play begins from cb playing into red player, team in possession try to play into number 9. upon succes, switch and play the other way. ( cb/9 switch roles, wingers swap roles left/right).
when ball leaves sqaure unsuccesfully, play restarts from original cb who plays into red. when blues win ball possession, they have the same targets of switching ball between 9 and cb.
Allows players in box to familarise themselves with every role of box while being challenge in 1v1 situations.
looking for:
maintain width and height in possession while playing off different lines, always look to connect with man on the ball, break lines when possible, rotation to open passing lane to furthest point of box, bodyshape to receive and play forward, ball speed, first touch and ability to play off both feet, detail of pass, and improve knowledge of diffrent roles depending on location of ball.

Organisation
Practice is designed to work with a holding midfield player, it can also be done using 2 MF players if you use a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Set up with specific players or in more than one area.
Size appropriate to your players.
How to Play
The holding MF player starts in the middle grid above the mannequins as shown.
The Reds in the lower grid start with the ball and keep possession from the defender.
After a set number of passes (3), they try to make a pass into the No 4.
The No 4 should time his run between the mannequins & shape his run so that he receives in a position to play forward.
Possible Coaching Points
No 4 make sharp, angled or circular runs between or around the mannequins.
Arrive in space at pace & on the half-turn.
No.4 movement before the pass should reflect the position of the ball.
Pass when the No 4 demands it.
Progressions
If 2 MF players are used, they must combine before playing out.
Add a 2nd defender in end zones.
Add a defender in the middle zone.

Organisation
Set up as diagram.
Reds (Coached)
Blues (Managed)
Aim: Creating combianations through a box midfield and a lone striker to score
Area from half way line to goal line, slightly width of 18 yard box. Reds will receive ball from the server who is outside of the box; and try to create combinations to score. Blues will attempt to defend realistically and upon winning the ball will have 10 seconds to get the ball back to the server.
Key Points:
Attacking principles: communication, angles to receive, width and depth, type and quality of pass, decision making, body position
Server plays ball to either CDM. Server acts as a trigger for both CAM's to get high and wide creating width and space for the CDM's. CAM's look play beyond the outside should of blue midfielders.
