Football/Soccer Session Plan Drill (Colour): Building from the back - Transitioning to OOP

Building from the back - Transitioning to OOP

Organisation:

-PItch Area: 50x40 yards

-Coached Team (Red): 7 Players (Including GK)

-Opposition Team (Blue): 7 Players (Including GK)

-Neutral Team (Yellow): 2 Players

- 40 min total

-In the first phase the Red Team play out from the back under passive pressure (Closing Down but not Tackling) from the Blue Team

-Blue Team try to Block Passing lines to Yellow Players and Pressure Red Team.

-Red Team try to work the ball around to open up a passing line to a Yellow Player (Striker in a Game)

Transition to OOP (40 mins)

2nd Phase

When the Red Team passes to a Yellow Player the Transition happens an play now becomes fully opposed

-Yellow player passes to the Blue Team and the Blue Players start to attack and look to score against the Red Team with the help of the Yellow Players (who will now act as the blue team CBs) (9v7 Including GK's)

-If the Red Team win the ball back, they are looking to score a goal against the Blue Team with the help of the Yellow Players (now acting as red team strikers)

-When the ball goes dead, players set up in their correct positions and play starts from the semi opposed play from the Red Team GK again

In Transition:

-Become Compact immediately (wide player opposite side to the ball narrow off)

-Force Play One Direction

-Communication

Out of posession

- Allow 1 CB to have the ball and cut off one side of the pitch (stop switches of play)

- Time press as ball travels (close distance quickly)

- Cut passing lanes and aim for press to arrive at players at the same time as the ball

- When the opportunity arives be agressive and steel the ball
