Description:
Players in the middle are looking to combine before scoring in one of the mini goals. When a goal is scored, it triggers a change. The player who scored gets their ball and stands next to the goal they scored in, meanwhile the player from their team that was standing next to the goal, has played their ball in and then joined in play.
Objective:
Provide killer movement and killer passes to exploit spaces and poor anticipation skills.
Coaching points:
Stay alive to the next ball coming in. Think ahead and be aware of what's next.
Concentrate on the moment of the game.
Disperse and make the area big when in possession.
Progression:
Players to start behind the goal and move left and right to receive.
To increase turnover of players, if ball goes out, player standing next to goal on that side plays in.
Cannot score in a goal that the opposition is standing behind.
Have to pass/dribble through gate before being able to score.
Time limit.
1-2 touch finish.

Wear out the defence - functional practice
Description:
Practice where midfield players must pass to their neighbour. This patient moving of the ball from side to side is designed to tire out the defence.
White team can move into the box and attack when the wide player takes their first touch through the blue cones before the blue defender gets to the edge of the box.
If blue team wins the ball, pass it into the mini goals as soon as possible.
Objective:
Earn the right to attack by unbalancing the defence and tiring them out.
Coaching points:
Receive with back foot and pass with other quickly.
Eyes up to see where the defenders are and to see which side is the weak side.
Remain patient, bide your time the defence will tire the longer you play, meaning you get more chances.
Progression:
Can play straight into striker who can then play into any player.
Add a screening blue midfielder. Add another centre back. Add another white attacker.
Increase time limits.
Remove restriction of having to pass to your neighbour.
