Corner P.O.P
Organization: 9(defenders) plus GK vs 8 defenders. 2 nets just before halfway line to show for outlet passes.
Zones: 1 and 2
Training load: 3 sets of 5 min
Structure:
Ball is Crossed in to Attackers looking to score on GK. Zonal Defenders look to win possession build out and play into the small nets.
Key Factors:
Stay Disciplined: Defenders must stay in their assigned zones and trust their teammates to do their jobs. Players can be tempted to follow the ball or mark attackers, but this can create gaps in the defensive structure.
Attack the Ball: When the ball comes into your zone, attack it aggressively. Every defender should aim to win the header or clear the ball.
React to Movement: Attackers will try to disrupt your zones by making runs or screening defenders. Defenders need to stay aware of this movement and shift slightly within their zones to prevent attackers from finding space.
Progressions:
Remove the two small nets and add a ST for the DEF team.
Tactics:
1) 1 person positioned at the hash mark to block line
2)Near Post Defender: A defender should be stationed near the post to clear low crosses and block near-post shots.
3)Far Post Defender: Similar to the near post, this player ensures no one is unmarked at the far post.
4) 6-Yard Box Defender: These defenders occupy the 6-yard box, covering the space in front of the goalkeeper to clear crosses.
5) Edge of the Box: A player should be positioned just outside the box to clear loose balls or prevent shots from distance after a clearance.
6) GK: should be active, organizing the defense, and deciding when to come off their line to punch or catch the ball. Clear communication between the keeper and defenders is essential to avoid confusion
