Screen 1 (20 mins)

  • Warm up
Organization: 35x40 yards (From goal to half field/ kick off circle)

Cones along the 36 goal box Across the pitch creating a big box for the goal keeper

Make teams even numbered (i.e defense 4 players including GK vs offense: 4 players)

Instructions: Attack tries to score on defense, they have to shoot outside the box. Defense must either dribble the ball out for one point or score in the pugg goals for 5 points

Coaching Points/Questions: For the attackers- How can we work together to get a shot away?

For the defenders- How could we force a mistake and quickly move the ball?

Progressions: Attacking team must include everyone in order to score

Screen 2 (20 mins)

Main Activity Gk + Defense vs attack (*in favor of the defenders) 4v2, 5v3 etc.)

Instructions:

  • Ball starts with GK and distributes to defenders. Attackers start at the halfway line. The goal for the defenders is to play from the back and attempt to score the ball in the pugg goals on wither side of opposing big net. Now the Goalkeeper is encouraged to join the defense and leave his or her box.

Defenders could get extra points by scoring in the big net in three passes or less.

Attackers get extra points for stealing the ball and scoring against the gk.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • For the defense: How can we use the extra numbers to work the ball out of our half

Progressions:

  • Give the defending team a pass requirement (i.e all players on the defense need to touch the ball), add more attackers

Regressions:

  • Add an extra defender, remove the pass restriction for the big goal
