Screen 1

1v1 - 2v1 Games

- Players start off in pairs and take it in turns trying to beat their partner and score in one of the two goals on their side.

- After every rep players chnage roles with their partner

- Count up scores losers move down a sqaure

- 6 reps each defending then change partners

Progression

-Players now work in groups of four , with the pairs taking it in turns to play 2v1

- The 2nd attacker is only allowed up to the middle line

- After the 2v1 finishes the defender then joins his partner who was out and they attack

Player Habits Encouraged

Delay (allow your team to get back into shape )

-Deny( space , time to run , pass or shoot with the ball)

-Deflect ( get a block on the pass or the shot)

-Defend ( go and win the ball)

4v4 Positioing Game

- Blue's try to play acorss the middle sqaure and get the ball across to the blue's on the other side

-After two sideways passes one red can press in the end sqaure until the ball is won or played out

- Once red win the ball they have to make two passes in either of the end squares and they win a point

-Blue players are allowed in the middle sqaure

Progression

- Combined both sqaures ( see screen 3)

Team Task

Can we close down forward passing options and force the oppostion into wide areas to win the ball.

Player Task's

- Can you see the ball and your closest opponet

- Can you shape your body in the direction that we want to force the ball

- As the ball travels into a wide area can we cover any options back to goal

-Can you disguise your press to show the oppostion forward passing lanes and 'jump them' as the oppostion trys to force the ball through

- If the line/player in front of you presses can you squeeze forward together as a unit

- Can you defend the closest player to you ball side ( if he moves can you pass him on to your team mate whose zone he moves into)

7v8 Game training

- Blue defend inside the red zone and red are free to play across the playing area

- Red aim to score in the big goals and blue aim to score in the two small blue goals

- Blue only allowed to defend behind the redzone when red are about to play the ball in behind there towards goal

- Blue can also leave their defending zone when they win the ball back to score in the goal

- All restarts are from the coach at halfway

Progression

- Time limit for blue to score

- Remove defending zone

Team Task

Can we stop the oppostion from playing forward by proactively pressing and forcing them to play wide into our pressing trap.

- 7/11 - can you see the fullback and the ball

- 7/11- can you press from inside to out to force the oppostion back into our numbers once we have trapped the ball wide

-7/11 - If you are on the opposite side can you creep forward to postion yourself to win the ball if the oppostion switch

-9/10- if you are the opposite 9/10 can you block the oppostion from switching once the ball has gone to one side

-9/10- As the ball travel's wide can you make a 2v1 against the oppostions fullback

-3/4- As you see the oppostion prepare to play the ball long can you drop off and protect the space in behind

-8/6 - If the ball goes behind our 9 can you step forward and press the player with the ball so he cant turn
