WB's (1) are encouraged to move beyond midfield into the shaded area by overlapping midfield. When midfielders are on the ball, WB's should immediately look to create a small overload and make the midfielder should release the pass. For the time being, no defenders are allowed in the shaded area, just wing backs (1).

Progression

Instead of just releasing the pass, midfielders are now encouraged to make the correct decision based on the defenders movement. The (1) player should still overlap to create the small overload, however, now 1 defender is allowed in the shaded area, so if the defender covers the (1) player, the defender can use the overlap to drive at the defence themselves. If the defender closes the midfield player, they can release the pass to the (1) player.

If a goal is scored as an immediate result of an overlap, whether it be used as a passing option or a decoy is awarded 2 goals rather than 1.
