Paint the Field: Players are in groups of three with one ball per group, pass and move progressing through unlimited touches, three touch, two touch, then one touch.
Coaching Points:
Passing technique: inside of foot, heel down toe up (check mark), none kicking foot beside ball
Receiving technique: inside of foot, similar shape to when passing.

Ajax square: in a diamond (use multiple if needed). Each player stands at a cone with one ball starting at a corner, players pass the ball around the outside of the diamond then follow their pass. When a player is ready to receive a pass they back away from cone to create a little space to receive. Play going to the right first (passing and receiving with right foot) then switch directions to go to the left (passing and receiving with left foot).
Progression: If applicable add a second ball with the balls starting on opposite sides of the diamond
Coaching Points:
What does a quality pass look like?
Receive with inside of foot play with inside of same foot.
Receive with inside, play with opposite foot.
Receive with outside of foot play with same foot.
Receive with the outside play with opposite foot.

Using a 20x30 grid play 3v3 plus a neutral player to endzones. One team has a collection of ball, initiate game by playing ball to opposing team. Teams score by passing to a teammate in the endzone, must be a pass. When a team scores or the ball goes out of play both sets of players are off and 3 new players from each team play a new game. Rotate neutral player every few minutes.
Progression: Go to two small goals on each endline.
Main points: How might you reduce time between first touch and pass? Receive ball across body which also allows you to play forward.
What might you do to create space to receive ball from teammate under pressure? Back pedal to receive ball across body just like in previous activity.
When do you play to teammate's feet/ when to play in space?
