Games
4v4 possession
Focus on PASSING skills, ball protection and elimination in 1v1 situations
Players from each team try to keep possession and connect as many passes as possible
Defending team try to win ball back by intercepting or tackling players who have the ball in the square
First team to connect 5 passes, scores a point. Then change outside and inside players.
After 5 minutes, see who has the most points and have the winning team play the our group's winning team etc
The SWEEP pass
Focus for a few minutes on the technical aspects of how to sweep a ball
1. BALL POSITION must be 45* infront of front foot and not pushed sideways
2. Hands slide up to the top of the stick together
3. Player HAS to get low - chest towards the ground
4. Sweep pullback does not have to be massive, focus on the follow-through (transfer of energy through the shot) but the stick must remain in contact with the pitch and should form an arc on the pitch

8v8 Volleyball-Hockey (focus on sweeping skills, space awareness and redirecting the ball)
Aim of the game is to get the ball over the backline of the opposition
Each team may only have 4 touches in their half of the ball before it needs to go back over the halfway line (the net)
Once a player has touched the ball, they may not touch it again until it comes back into their half
The ball must not be stopped dead at any point - if it does, the opposition win the point
Ball can be moved in a half 3 times (like volleyball) and the 4th time it is touched must be to pass it over into the other half
If the ball goes over the sideline of the oppositions half, they take it as a sideline hit
If the ball is touched by a player in the half and it goes out the sideline/base line in their half, they lose the point
Players should be moving to get into better positions to stop/deflect
Focus is on practising the sweep in a competitive environment

P7 Games to include GKs
4v4 Turn and Burn games
Attacking team goes towards goal, defending team must win the ball and carry it into the End Zone
or pass to one of their team mate who is in the End Zone
That team will then become the attacking side and turn and attack the goals while the other team defends.
Can shoot from anywhere if they sweep at goals BUT once they pass the 6m line, they may only push the ball at goals or pass around the keeper

Warm-ups (10 mins)
Stick and Ball warm-up
Exercise 1
1. Carry ball in a small space and move amongst each other without bumping into another player
2. Progress to King of the Ring - players knocking each other's ball out the playing area. If player is knocked out, they must collect another ball and practice elimination skills with other players who have been knocked out of the game
Exercise 2 (groups of 4):
Pass ball to any player in the square and move to an open cone
Continue to promote "give-and-go" mentality
Progress to time test after a few minutes to see how many successful passes can be made in 1 minute
Focus points
1. grip on the stick (left-hand on top controlling the stick, right-hand relaxed and lower on the stick)
2. ball-carrying position (ahead of front foot, not next to feet)
3. knees bent to encourage eyes-up to scan for space
