Setup: multiple 10x20 yd grids as needed. (3 grids of 3 per line = 18. 3 grids of 4 per line = 24). For progression 2, add cones to one side to create two mini dribbling goals.
Purpose: 1v1 runner with ball vs defender, Speed/agility movement, Following directions, Passing/receiving intro
Game: Progression 1 = Player A takes off with speed dribble down the right side of grid. When reaching end of grid, they pass to player B. Player A immediately begins to back peddle, while player B runs with ball (speed dribbles) to other end. Player B tries to beat backpeddling player to other side. Continuous play. Mix backpeddling with side shuffle or karaoke.
Progression 2 = Both lines on same side with two mini goals at end. Player A passes ball to lead player B, and then player A overlaps player B. Player B tries to beat player A to other end and dribble through one of the mini goals.
Duration/Score: 5 minutes each. Beating player to otherside = 1pt for progression 1. Scoring in minigoal with dribble = 1pt for progression 2
Coaching: 1) organize flow of game before correction of technique 2) First touch with laces or inside 3) Work on laces dribbling at speed "Can you push ball forward instead of kick?"

Setup: Setup area appr. 40x40 with several 5x5 yd boxes set inside grid. Color code to make easier for kids. Need pinnies to mark defenders. Setup players without balls inside 5x5 yd grids and players with balls inside grid. 3 to 4 defenders inside grid. Adjust size, squares, and defenders to size of group.
Game: The boxes are safety zones, and defenders cannot attack in box. When a dribbler comes into your box, you are bumped, and you must take the ball and dribble out of the box to another box or around the central area. You cannot reenter the same box you came from. Defenders attempt to knock balls out of the big square (or dribble out). When balls are knocked out, they cannot reenter and that player leaves game. Continue until all balls are knocked out of grid.
Progression: Attackers become defenders if their ball is taken.
Duration/Score: 15 minutes rotating defenders. Defenders win 1pt for knocking out balls. Attackers each get a point for staying in game.
Coaching:
- Things to say: "Head up", "Run away from defenders (to space", "You've been bumped", "Good first touch"
- Focus on technique of good first touch to space. Weight of touch. Part of foot. Work into sprint.
- Focus on dribblers identifying space by avoiding defenders area

Setup: Two grids 30x40 with endzones at the end instead of goals.
Game: Two teams play 4v4 as usual. Players can only score by dribbling into the endzone.
Progression: If the group needs to advance, play pass backwards and dribble forwards. No pass forwards.
Duration/score: 15 to 20 minutes. Each endzone goal is a score.
Coaching: Tactical: Encourage exploiting space in front of them. If a player is open for pass, encouarge to pass so that teammate can run with ball to space.

(toe taps/toe taps moving, bell taps/bell taps moving, continuous scissors, bunny hop over the ball, one foot hop around ball, rolls/rolls moving, rolls to stop, squishes, etc.) They listen for coaches command to try to be the first to the kings gold. Coach yells "gold", and all the players run with the ball to the other endzone to get the kings gold. The last five go to the peasants grid, and the game restarts from this end. Keep playing until there are one or two left in the kings grid, and they win game.
Duration: play 2 games or 10 minutes.
Coaching: Focus on correcting all ball technique for ball mastery and running with the ball
