Two Blue central midfielders to pull out slightly wider and play centrally through combination play.

Primary Focus
Creating and exploiting overloads
Organisation
16 players will be organised into 2 teams of 8.
Red team (out of possession) 1 - 4 - 3. Working from 11v11 removal of 2 midfielders and 1 striker (removal of number 10 and leaving number 9)
Blue team (in posession) 1- 1 - 4 - 2. Working from 11v11 removal of 3 defenders . A keeper now added.
Half pitch with two big goals for each team to score in.

Half 11 a side pitch
Player numbers
16 players in total, 2 teams of 8.
Timings
10 minutes split into 2 x 4 mins blocks with 2 x 1 min rest between blocks
Explanation
The blue team will be in possession and play to start from blue keeper to start with. Coach to focus on player movements, play forwards, combine play with their forwards, wide and central players. Interchange positions to create overloads. If the Red team (out of possession) regain possession they have 8 seconds to score a goal.
Conditions
Practice to be played on half pitch and ball to start with either keeper. Blues look to create overloads and score in big goal. Reds look to defend and regain possession and score in opposition goal.
BLOCK 1
Ball to be played directly out wide to create overlaps and out number the opposition higher up the pitch.
BLOCK 2
Ball to be played to central players. Blue players to use combination play to overload red team.
red team asked to play compact and narrow and track the extra runners.
Challenges
Blue team looks to overload in wide and central areas and red team looks to defend and regain posession. They then have 8 seconds to score a goal.
