Primary Focus

Creating and exploiting overloads 

Organisation

15 players will be organised into 2 teams of 7 and 8.

Red team (out of possession) 1 - 4 - 3. Working from 11v11 removal of 2 midfielders and 1 striker (removal of number 10 and leaving number 9)

Blue team (posession)  1 - 4 - 2. Working from 11v11 removal of 3 defenders and keeper

Half pitch with mini goals in both corners

Balls to start with server.

Area size

Half 11 a side pitch

Player numbers

15 players in total, 2 teams of 7 and 8.

Timings

10 minutes split into 2 x 4 mins blocks with 2 x 1 min rest between blocks

Explanation

The blue team will be in possession and play to start from server in the central position. Coach to focus on player movements, play forwards, combine play with their forwards,  wide and central players. Interchange positions to create overloads. If the Red team (out of possession) regain possession  they have 8 seconds to score in one of the two mini goals. 

Conditions

Practice to be played on half pitch and ball to always restart with server. Blues look to create overloads and score in big goal. Reds look to defend and regain possession  and score in one of the mini goals.


BLOCK 1

Ball to be played directly out wide to create overlaps and out number the opposition higher up the pitch. 

Challenges

Blue team looks to overload in wide areas and red team looks to defend anfcregain posession. They then have 8 seconds to score in either mini goals.

Limit time in possession

Decrease area size

decrease time to score a goal

Regressions

Increase area size

Add extra blue player

limit touches to opposition
