Y Shooting Grid (10 mins)
Method:
Two groups of 8 players
- A pass to B, then follow the pass
- B moves off cone and controls with back foot, then pass to C, then follow pass
- C pass to D, then follow pass
- D pass to E, then follow pass
- E pass to F, then follow pass
- F pass to G, then follow pass
- G shoots! Then join queue
Coaching Points:
- Open body shape
- Movement away from cone
- Control using back foot
- Good weight and accuracy of pass
- Communication - Verbal & Non-Verbal

Strength Work
Method:
Players working in 2's
A - 1 player has hands on side of ball, other has hands on top & bottom. Try to pull the ball from each other.
B - Shoulder to shoulder. Pushing each other. Change sides so working both shoulders
C - Back & Bums - pushing back against each other
D - Shielding - One player has a ball, the other is trying to get ball from them. Player with the ball has sidewards body shape, keeping themselves between the opposition player and the ball, using one foot to move the ball and the other to help protect the ball

5 + 1 v 5 + 1
Method:
- 5 Greens v 5 Reds
- Blue player is with the team that have the ball
- Teams try to score in little goals
Progression 1: If team score, they transition and try to score in the opposite end
Progression 2: Play 3 touch football
Coaching Points:
- Communication - verbal & nonverbal. Loud calls! Players calling player they are passing ball to. Players pointing where they want the ball to be played
- Create 'Width' & 'Dept'. So, make the pitch as big as possible
- Good work rate and quality

Free Kicks
Method:
- Red players have 1 minute to take as many free kicks as possible
- Start at position 1, move to 2, then 3
- Wall must move along and try block each free kick
- GK must communicate with wall extremely quickly to get them into place
- After 1 min, change players in the wall
- Wall can be 12 or 13 yards away to make it easier on free kick takers. Once quality improves, move wall 10 yards away
Coaching Points:
- Organization & Communication - GK moving wall. Wall staying together
- Good quality form the kick taker trying to get over the wall & on target
