Set Up
Half Pitch area | 2 x Full Size goals | 6 x flat discs | 4 x Mannequins | 12 x Footballs
Set up a second 18yard area parallel with an 8m gap between and mannequins 10m apart through the middle. Place flat discs in starting positions for players.
How to Play
Combination 1 (players in blue)
- Player B on moves forward to receive a pass from Player A - Player B turns and plays through ball to Player C who attempts to score
- Both sides play at the same time for maximum opportunity to practice
- Rotation: A to B, B to C, C to A on other side
Combination 2 (players in black):
- Player A passes to Player B - Player B sets back tom Player A - Player A passes through to Player C to score
- Rotation: A to B, B to C, C to A on other side
- Progression: Player A now plays a clipped ball over the top
Combination 3 (players in blue):
- Player A passes to Player B - Player B sets back tom Player A - Player A passes wide to Player D, Player D crosses for Player C to score
- Progression: Player A movement inside so through ball is played between mannequins - change of run for player D
- Rotation: A to B, B to C, C to A on other side | Player D stays wide (at least 2 wide players each side)
Details
- Ball speed so that we can play quickly: quick touches | quick turns | 1 touch

- Type of pass: set | to feet | to turn | through | disguise
- Timing of run: break defensive line as ball is played

Set Up

- 3 teams of 4, bibbed accordingly
- 2 neutral players
How to Play
- 4+GK+Neutrals vs 4 in one half of the area
- Play starts with the coach passing to the attacking team
Attacking team (red)
- Team in possession make at least 3 passes before attempting to play an incisive pass between mannequins (no dribbling through)
- Only the attacker plus one team mates can finish the attack when ball is played through
- Attacking team can use their GK and wide players in the build-up (7v4)
- Once a goal is scored or the ball has gone out, play restarts with the other team attacking
Defending team (blue)
- Prevent opposition from playing through.
- Attempt to win possession in opposition half and quickly score!
- Defenders can not recover if ball is played through
Back 4 (black)
- Prevent the ball being played through
- Must stay in your zone
- If you intercept, attack! Support counter attack - player with the ball can join the attack.
Progression
- allow defenders to recover: 1 x def = 2 x att | 2 x def = 3 x att |
- defenders can only recover once ball is played (no waiting in def half)

Blue set up: 2-3-3
Red set up: 1-4-2-1
How to Play
Play starts with a switch between blue CB's
- blue attempt to score in opponents goal
- red score by winning possession and scoring in one of the 3 x mini-goals
- 2 x transitions before restarting
- Only one of the blue back 3 can join the attack, the other two must stay.
Frame
This session is all about making incisive passes to unlock a team who defend using a block.
Notes - Defending
- Trap opposition in wide areas. Nothing through the middle
- Press from the front if possible
- If press is beaten, look to retreat and repair – protect central areas

Set Up
Half field using width of the penalty box with a goal at either end | 7v7 with both teams set up in a 1-2-3-1 with one neutral player in each of the wide zones
How to Play
Normal football rules apply except no corners or throw ins - if ball goes out, restart the game with the GK
- wide players must stay in wide zone to start
Progressions
- one wide player can join in on attack, the other must stay in the wide zone
Coaching
- Check learnings from the session are taking place
- Coach over the top. Only stop game if absolutely necessary.
