Description

Game Idea (Main Principle)

  • "Taking The Initiative... Forcing the opposition to one side of the field and attracting opposition to help create space to get 'around' or 'through' the opposition.

Concepts/Intention's (Sub-Principle):

  • Concept 1 | Dynamism - Recognize cues/triggers of how to create/re-create organization through space management and based on the opposition pressure.
  • Concept 2 | Triangulation - Based on the opposition gaps we build up Centrally vs. Wide. (Aka Through vs. Around)
  • Concept 3 - Disorientation - Exploit the opposition through forcing them one-side of the field, and exploit the other side.

Player Action (PA)

  • PA - Passing | Focal Point: Speed of Pass - Key Word: "Pace in the Pass"
    • Quality of passing in different ranges (Short, Medium Range)
    • Speed of pass based on the situation facing (Weight of the pass to a teammate)
  • PA - Receiving | Focal Point: Preparing your touch away from Pressure - Key Word: "Play away from Pressure"
    • Body orientation to allow more solutions vs. problems.
  • PA - Scanning | Focal Point: Ability to read problem and identify solutions - Key Word: "FIND Solution's"
  • PA - Movement | Focal Point: Ability to relocate to create multiple solutions
    • When to move forward, backwards, overlap, underlap, etc.

KPI's of Training Session (Player/Team Outcome) | "What does 'Good' look like?" :

  • Individually;
    • players are passing/scanning with an intention to play effective. Player's understand that they can break lines by going forward, laterally, backwards.
    • Review the benefits of breaking lines individually can impact the team's ability to move the ball forward.
    • Does not allow group pressure compromise individual players to get frazzled; rather understand that 'trusting' their teammate can create/find solutions to get out of situations.
  • Collectively;
    • Group is finding more success in keeping possession of the ball and creating opportunities to move the ball to any part of the field to shift the opposition to a specific space to exploit what's behind/next to them.
    • Giving player's autonomy to not be TOO structured in the organization and having the confidence to re-position or taking the initiative in taking responsibility of another role to create 'organized chaos'.

Game Identify Situation

Focus team (Blue Team) has faced an issue of building up from the #1 when play against a team in a 1-4-4-2 system.

  • Main Situation - When playing to the #5 to the #3, team get's pinched into the wide channel's.
  • Sub-Situations - Either the #5 lacks speed of play to create numerical superiority through playing backwards (Creating Depth)
  • Sub-Situations - Either the #11 lacks speed of play to create numerical superiority through playing forward (Creating Height)
  • Sub-Situations - Either the #10 &  lacks on reading the appropriate space to create numerical superiority by timing their run too late to help create possibilities (or attract the opposition) to breaking lines.

Desired Behavior

Focus team (Blue Team) has faced an issue of building up from the #1 when play against a team in a 1-4-4-2 system.

  • Main Desired Behaviors (DB) - When the #1 plays to the #4/#5; #1 will adjust into a position where to forces either #2/#3 to higher space to permit the #7/#11 to get into higher space either in the wide channel or the half-turn channel's. Allowing the team to force the opposition to one half of the field and look to switch the point of attack.
  • DB1 (Technical Practice) - Understand the cues/triggers of when/where to create different movement they must make to help create 'numerical superiority' when switching the point of attack.
  • DB2 (Ball Retention) - Understand space mgmt on how to get the opposition unbalance through moving them to certain parts of the field to exploit them.
  • DB3 (Game Phase/Game) - Review the when/where to find the central player's to get the opposition unbalance vs. when to build out in the wide channel's.

  • CP1 - Movement Technique
    • (Or Re-Adjusting) of everyone to re-create different idea's to get out of High-Press Situation.
    • Where to make the run's looking to create a specific shape
    • Identifying the cue's/triggers than can help the player recognize when to execute the movement.
  • CP2 - Passing Technique
    • Mid-Range Length | Review Mechanics of executing a 15-20 yard pass
    • Pros & Cons of using different surface of the foot to execute the Player Action. (Ex. Inside vs. Laces)
    • What to look for before executing the pass - Scanning Technique.
  • CP3 - Receiving Technique
    • How to receive based on different situations or opposition behavior (Back foot vs. Front foot)
    • Preparation on receiving in different circumstance from a teammate. (Pass coming at pace vs. its not)
    • Based on the opposition on how to handle when receiving the ball; beat the opposition on the first touch through getting away from them vs. getting around them

    • Review idea's of maintain possession of the ball collectively. Positioning > RE-Positioning > Breaking Lines = Break-Ankle's > Attract > Repeat.
