Specific Practice

Description

The specific practice will begin with the Blue #6 on the halfway line. The goal is for the blue team to attack the full size opposition goal.

The red team is to defend, specifically looking to deny the blue #10 opportunities to get on the ball and create opportunities. If they win possession should aim to break and score in one of the 2 mini goals.

If a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play, play will restart back at the halfway line.

Opposition Team (Red): GK, LB, RB, x2 CB, x2 HM, AM (Set-up in a 1-4-3-3)

Starting Point

Ball starts with coach on halfway line.

Blocks

Block 1: 

Problem: Blue #10 looks to play between the red #6 and #8 to receive and link up play.

Solution: Red team defend compact with red #6 and #8 looking to pressure the #10 and deny opportunities to play forward.

Block 2: 

Problem: Blue #10 drops in to receive from holding midfielder or full backs.

Solution: Red #8 man marks blue #10 while red #6 covers and supports.

Block 3:

Problem: Check for understanding

Solution: Red team react to blue teams attacking play and defend accordingly

Challenge: Challenge red team to not allow blue #10 to play forward during block 3.
