Specific Practice Blocks: 4x4 mins
SSG Blocks: 4x5 mins
Problem#1: Attacking team's wide players are looking to play centrally.
Problem#2: Attacking team is trailing 1-0 and searching for an equalizer with 5 minutes remaining.
Solutions: Defenders and midfielders on red team narrow their shape to compact the middle, close off central passing lanes, and force wide. The red team then shifts their shape depending on which side of the pitch the play shifts towards. Closest player to the ball presses, and the players around and away from the ball shift towards the pressing player to close down space to play. Farthest players are to be left alone and the middle is to be protected.
Coaching Points:
-Recognize opposition movement
-Press Quickly
-Protect The Middle
-Leave the Farthest Players
-Attacking Transitions When Possession Is Regained
Technical Points:
-Closest player to the ball applies pressure (starts quickly, slows down on approach)
-Body Shape: Angled to show attacking player on ball away from goal
-Tackling Technique: Stand, Slide, Poke
-Tackling Application/Timing: Cues to tackle-poor first touch, slow pass, head of opponent receiving the ball is down.
*Does an attempt to win the ball have to be made? Where on the pitch? (i.e. If closer to opponent's goal, winning the ball may not be as necessary compared to if the opponent enters our box)
-Track runners or pass on?
-What Ifs:
-Defending players get isolated on overloads?
-Blue team opts for shots outside of our box?
-Pressing player gets beaten?
-Point of attack switches to opposite side winger/wingback
-Line breaking pass made to get behind defense?
-Attack shifts from wide areas to central areas

Setup: Half Pitch with tapered corners at midfield by opposition's goal with two 11v11 goals for each team to score into.
Red Team (Focus Team): 4-2-3-1 (4-2-1)
Blue Team (Managed Team): 4-3-3 (2-2-3)
Challenges:
-How quickly can the red team counter attack after re-gaining possession?
-If the attackers enter our box, how can we force errors on their end that would cause the attack to break down?
Conditions:
-Opportunities for attacking team to get extra points depending on if goals are scored down the middle or off of crosses
-Opportunities for extra points if focus team on defense can score within 6 seconds after winning possession.
-Touch limit for attackers to increase speed of play

Coaching Practice Review and Reflection
What things stood out for you during the session that need to be reflected on?
Reds struggled to deal with the with of the blue team as the blues played around and one a lot to the 7 and 11.
What did you do well in the session? We didn't have much success but we tried to defend as a unit. We done this by holding a good line and being very compact blocking the box.
Why did these good things happen?
I think every player knew there role and responsibility. Reds also had great communication skills talking and a lot which was led by the captain.
What impact did you have on the achievement of the objectives?
I asked reds to be competitive and brave, they certainly did this in parts. I asked to be a unit and they done this well.
