1. this drill is basically a 10m x 10m square but with a few progressions - needs at least 8 boys for the progression
2.. basically player 1 passes left to player 2 but crucially player 1 then moves right to join the back of queue at player 4's station
3.player 2 then passes left to player 3 and player 2 joins the back of player 1 queue and the rotation continues
4.this passing pattern can be set by coach i.e. pass left move right or pass right move left depending on what foot you want them to control and pass with
coaching points
1. the key to this drill is that if player 1 is passing left to player 2 then player 2 must control pass on back foot (left) and pass with right foot, this ideally needs to be done with 2 touches. so good first touch and anticipating the pass is essential (on toes)
2. the point of passing and moving left/right after pass is that nobody stands still after passing a ball you need to constantly be on the move looking for space or creating space for somebody else to move in to
Key Progression for to add pressure
1. if player 1 has passed to player 2 then player 4 runs forward and puts passive pressure on player 2, this will make the drill more game like and force player 2 in to making sure his first touch is good enough so that he can get pass off to player 3 before player 4 (could) steal the ball
ultimate progression
1. the ultimate aim of this drill is that the boy's get to decide which way they pass the ball to keep it off the player applying the pressure, they can either go left or right at anytime they want.
make it fun
1. give the boy's 1 minute and time how many passes they can complete going left then again give them another minute going right without the player putting pressure on them and see how many passes they can complete, maybe spend the last 5/6 mins of drill trying to beat there previous best

1. this is a combination drill that ends up with a shot on goal
2. feeder 1 plays pass into 1a who must touch mannequin on shoulder before moving off to receive pass on back foot (left) to open up body to dribble towards player 2
3. player 2 again has to touch mannequin on shoulder before peeling off
4. player 1a then plays ball into path of player 2 before 1a reaches the mannequin
5. player 2 is then one on one with goalie
coaching points
1. as always comunication is vital all boys must DEMAND the ball
2. it's vital players in positions 1a+b receive the ball on the back foot so theyre first touch is out there feet and towards the next player
3. all players must make some form of movement away from mannequin (loose the defender) make sure they touch there shoulder or give a gentle push (nothing wrong with that)
4. players 2+3 must pull off defender whilst facing the ball i.e. have there back to sideline
5. the pass from 1a+b must be the right weight so player 2+3 can run onto it and not to near the goalie
6.player 2+3 must time there run so they run onto it and not stand and waiting on it getting to them
progression
1. after receiving pass at first mannequin player 1 passes to player 2 at mannequin who lays ball back for player 1 to play a one two into his path on inside of mannequin

drill based around one two's and lay off's
the drill could be explaned to the boy's as player 1 is a defender player 2 is a midfielder and player 3 a striker
1. 2 groups of player at each side of the pitch
2. with a player based at positions 2 and 3
3. player 1 plays the ball into player 2
4. player 2 plays the ball back with first touch
5. player 1 then plays long ball upto player 3
6. player 3 then lays the ball off for player 2 who has spun off to recieve lay off
7. player 2 shoots
8. all players move up a position and player 3 joins back of other queue
9. play starts again from other queue into 2nd goal
COACHING POINTS
1. look for player 2 to use some movement to recieve first pass in box, drop front left or right of box and simple lay off
2. player 1 needs to play firm pass upto 3 calling name, imagine its a game there pass needs to be game like
3. very important that the timing of player 2's run is not to quick, he should try and time it so he is leaving the box just as player 3 lays it off
