1v1 Change of direction:
Set up as diagram, 15x25m pitch with 5m scoring zones.
Player 1 passes to player 2 to starts. When P2 touches the ball, P1 runs to defend. Players can score in either end but MUST be in the scoring zone. If defender wins the ball they can score. Once ball is out of play sequence continues with next 2 players. Give each attacker a few goes then rotate roles.
After everyone has had a few goes introduce rule that player MUST do one change of direction to score. Focus on the attack, first touch, close control, change of direction and accelarate away from defender.
Add competition for repetion, keeps scores.

small sided game (SSG):
25x15 area, 5m scoring zones. No more than 5v5, change teams to suit numbers, 3 teams if more tha 10, winner stays on.
Initally teams can score in both goals but must be inside the scoring zones this is to encourage turns and change of direction. Coach will ALWAYS play ball in, encourage players to find space as soon as ball is out of play. Player who kicked ball out must retrieve it and return it to coach before returning to play, this will nayurally create overloads. Praise any attempt to turn and use skills.
Normal one direction game to finish session.

Warm-up (10 mins)
Warm-up: 20x15 area
Every player has a ball. Players move randomly around pitch to begin encourage them to show off their skills,(2 mins). Encourage plaryers to find space "eyes up, not head up", "what do good players find? and use both feet, 4 touches one foot-change direction-4 touches other foot.
Introduce a change of direction skill, i.e. Cruff turn, roll back, inside/outside cut or step-on. Only introduce 1 or 2 skills as not to confuse players. After skill player accelerates into space. Repeat on both feet, add competition to get repition i.e. "how many turns can you do in a minute?"
Lots of praise and encouragement from coach.
