Attacking or Defending situations 1 - 5 players (20 mins)
2 zone game.
Rules - yellow player 1 , plays into his team of 2 , 3 or 4 players who try to complete a set number of passes ( 3 - 5 ) v 1 , 2 or 3 blue defenders then play into blue player 2. Blues repeat exercise and yellows have to react to press ball as defenders.Server number 1 yellow and blue 2 cannot be tackled and players in zones can pass back to them if required.
Progressions - could progress into directional game either 2 v 2 in each half of 4 v 4 using both halfs ( not restricted to remain in one of the zones ). Players at each end are Target and serving players ( different coloured shirt or bibs) playing with both teams.
Outcomes
Attacking
Technical/ tactical - Players first touch to create space will be challenged , try to create angles to receive ball, pull defender in then off load ball, when to complete final pass to produce end product. Communication to assist link up play and various types of passes using outside inside feet & disguise.
Phyisical , keep balance , quick sharp short movements, strength to protect ball, vision keep head up.
Winning Attitude - Concentrate , focused, positive !
Defending
Technical / Tactical - defenders will be outnumbered , if on own try to prevent forward pass by screening, press on heavy touch, if 2 defenders initially narrow off to prevent forward pass, press at appropriate time, if 3 defenders can now press earlier with more support & cover!
Physical - Sharp quick dynamic movements, agility and strength when tackling.
Wining Attitude - Keep focus & concentration , talk to each other, keep positive!!
