Set-up:

  • Area: Set up a grid that can accommodate four small-sided games. Each section will have its own game format.
  • Equipment: Use a mix of large and small goals, cones, and balls. Set up an 'End Zone' marked by cones in two of the sections.
  • Teams: Divide players into teams of 4, with each game having two teams competing.
  • Duration: Each game is played for 5 minutes. Allow for a brief interval before rotating between games.

Activity Overview:

1. Game 1: Large Goals (Nearest Defender is GK)

  • The nearest defender automatically becomes the goalkeeper when the opposing team is in possession.

2. Game 2: Small Goals (Must be Inside 'End Zone' to Score)

  • Teams must move the ball into the 'End Zone' and finish from within that area to score.

3. Game 3: End Zone Dribbling/Passing

  • Score by either dribbling or passing into the marked 'End Zone'.

4. Game 4: Ball on the Cone Knock-Off

  • Objective: Players aim to knock the ball off the cones set up on the side of the area (as shown).

Progressions:

  • Increase intensity: Reduce the time available in each game, making decisions and execution more time-pressured.
  • Double points: Offer double points for specific achievements (e.g. quick counter from winning possession).
  • Individual Challenge: Add in a "Gladiator" player who rotates between teams, providing additional challenges or playing as a neutral in specific games.
  • Rotation with conditions: After each round, change one rule (e.g., only first-time finishes in the 'End Zone', or all players must touch the ball before a goal)
  • MVP Bonus:In the last 2 minutes of each game, secretly designate an MVP player on each team. If the MVP scores or knocks the ball off the cones, the team earns 10 bonus points. Rotate the MVP role but keep it hidden from the opposing team.
