Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Winning back Possession Quickly to Advance

Method:

• Each play starts with GK playing to any D in Zone 1.
• A's must win ball back in each zone and play to A1 to advance to next zone.
• A1 plays ball to next zone D's and A's advance to repeat.
• If A's advance to 4th zone they then attempt to score on GK!
• If D's complete 10 passes in any zone then A's are eliminated.

• Players swap zones after each ball.
• A's and D's swap after each ball.
• Play from GK can start to either side - zone 4 can be zone 1 etc..

Coaching Points:

• A2 and A3 must win the ball back quickly and play to A1.
• One presses and one covers to win 2nd ball.

• Introduce another player in the half space (defender or attacker).
• Extra Goal and GK at the halfway point to advance.
• D's in opposite zones must complete a number of passes to eliminate A's.
• Add zones (D's) to centre channels to make it harder again.
