Practice One- 36 mins
Organisation
20 Players
3 teams of 6- Red, blue and white with two GKs in the practice at all times
1 team resting on outside but actively involved in practice
2 teams working on the inside
Rules- SSG scenario where the play flows but in order to score a goal, teams must play the ball into a wide channel to the common players and make an overlapping run in that channel before crossing the ball to score a goal. Once the player has crossed the ball, they must make a recovery run past the blue cones set around half way in the practice.
Idea behind the overlapping run and recovery run is to work on the players speed endurance as they will then re-join the practice to play in the SSG.
No touch limits.
4 x 8 minute blocks with 1 minute breaks in between. Total 36 minutes
Focus is on physical output the players put in and developing their speed endurance across blocks so planned feedback will generally be concurrent to players and trying to affect the individuals as I want the practice to flow and the players to start building their endurance base.
Progressions- 1st time cross once you have overlapped
- Defender can go into channel to block the cross
- To score, all players must be over the half way point (blue cones) to score, double points for a team if the opposition aren't all over the half way line when a goal goes in too.
Key detail-
- Intensity of overlapping run and recovery run and quick recovery to get back into the SSG quickly
- Types of cross into the box
i.e. stand up to back post, pull-back or cross into 6 yard area
Consider context i.e. where the player is crossing from? such as from a deeper area on the pitch
- Intensity of defending when getting out to stop the cross into the wide channel
