Core Skills

Pass, Receive, Scan focus

2 players in middle/ 4-6 players on outside, 2 with a ball

Players in the middle encouraged to receive and move to pass to players without a ball

Outside players need to call and pass when player in the middle has just passed another ball

ADVANCE: 1v1 in the middle to encourage player to receive and pass quickly and attacker to make decisions about whether to receive ball back from player they just passed to or if they need to find another ball because they're marked

Core Warm Up 2

Lead, receive, pass focus

4-6 players per group

C calls and leads either side of gates from cone to receive hard flat pass from A

A drops into the pitch after pass to offer PASSIVE defence (no tackling) then joins D

Receive focus for A on the move and then travels to either gate 1 or 2, gets feet around and passes to B

Follows pass

ADVANCE: A becomes ACTIVE defender to try win ball from C who scores by carrying ball through Gates 1 or 2 or by passing to B through gate 3

If A wins the ball, they score by passing to D at gate 4 or by carrying ball through gates 1 or 2

Man marking 4 v 4 (10 mins)

Coach or extra player passes ball in. 4v 4 within dotted line outside D.

One team attacks for 10 balls then swap.

Emphasis on the defending- touch tight! Get between them and the goal. Be physical and own the space. Make sure to protect your feet.

4v2 Attack Focus (10 mins)

4v2 Goal-scoring focus

Set up channel in middle of pitch

Ball is fed into 3 attackers from defender on sideline who then drops into defend.

The pass releases Defender 2 and Attacker 4 in the middle channel who have to drop into the playing area

Play until ball is dead. If defenders win the ball, they must get it to the players on sideline to win the point.

Attackers look to support in help-side scoring areas: P-Spot/Post/90
