Learning outcomes
Building Blocks - Individual TacticsWhat: Improving the ability to beat a defender 1 vs 1 using moves.
Where: Anywhere.
Who: 1st Attacker.
When: The 1st attacker is faced with forward-facing pressure from the 1st defender.
Why: The opponent is preventing the dribble by pressuring the 1st attacker.

Organization:
- Box 6x6 (Make bigger if needed)
- 2 lines on opposing ends
Instructions:
- Players on the outside will try to beat defenders in the box
- 5 - points go straight through
- 1 - point to go to the outside
- The defender stays for 2 minutes (coach rotates / for advanced players - defenders can win the ball and dribble outside of the box on the endzone from which the attacking player came. The attacking player who loses the ball becomes the defender)
Coaching Points:
- Q - "How can you unbalance the defender?" A - Timing of the move, use the nobody to unbalance the opponent.
- Q - "What kind of touches would you take when the defender is nearby?" A - Smaller touches with the toe or laces when pressure is in front.
Progressions/Regressions:
- R: Increase the box size / or decrease the line space

Organization:
- Expand field for 1v1s
Instructions:
- Score by dribbling across the end zone.
- 10-15 second games.
Coaching Points/Questions:
- Head up for the Attacking player before they receive the ball to recognize what decisions to make with their 1st touch, get into the attack, and when driving at the Defender.
- How can you unbalance the Defender?
- What Technical skill can you use? Try to "sell" your move by using your body to really get the Defender to commit.
- When can you take a big touch to accelerate? (Once you get even/behind the Defender to create separation
- Shield ball as you get around.
Regressions/Progressions:
- P- Pass to the opponent to start the game
- R- Make the Field wider / Shorter by length

Instructions:
- 3v3
- No forward passes (encourages to dribble)
- Score by dribbling into the end zone and then they can score into the small goal.
- End Zone = 2pts
- Scoring = 1pts
- If they enter the end zone by they and score on goal, the score of the combination can be up to 3pts. (Ex: If they dribble in but don't score, then only 2 points)
- All restarts are Free kicks (Middle third of the field)

- Principles of play
- Role of the 1st attacker
- "When can you dribble/pass/shoot?"
- "How can you unbalance your opponent?" (With ball / without the ball) - Show me
- 2nd attackers
- "Where/How can you support"?
