Screen 1 (10 mins)

Key Factors I want the players to warm up. Essentially one player in the middle, he is to receive and play the ball to those on the outside. Focus on the mechanics of passing and work on communications between the players.

Organisation As depicted.

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Key Factors Now the players have warmed up, I want to move into a high intensity Rondo. Really work on the passing mechanics, however score the second line passes demonstrated by the players.

Organisation Number of the players. All players will complete 45 seconds in the centre. Players score a point if they bisect the two players and or if it is a quick second line pass with a different angle to get the ball across.

What are the players body position & first touch like?

Are they continously scanning their surroundings?

Can they play it first time?

Is it executed correctly and have they then moved their position (Even if it is a quick loop back to their position to simulate losing a marker).

For passing remember

Look at the target

Eyes on the ball

Angle of approach

Non kicking foot

Surface of the boot

Firm ankle

Screen 3 (20 mins)

Key Factors SSG, outside players are on the side as to whoever is in possession, therefore creating an overload. Reds 2-2-2-. Blues 3-2-1. The aim is to get the ball in to the end zones when the player arrives. There will be offsides and I want to encourage the players to play through or around therefore taking the option of the long ball away.

Minimum of 20 mins. Focus on the attacking principles & the passing mechanics from the previous slide.

Progressions/alterations I may place a goal at one end if I have my GK. Try and get my Twin screen/Defensive midfielder to keep possession, keep switching wide and get the opposition sliding across. Once the opposition are tired and space is there, exploit and play forward.

Once ball arrives/player arrives in end zone, regain positions and play starts again. Issue individual challenges and try to intervene from the sidelines to keep the ball rolling.

Screen 4 (20 mins)

Progression to last screen;

Issue challenges to players. Challenges such as second line passing, quick switches, securing the first pass on transition. Deep Midfielder can he pass the ball forward? Has he moved to receive the ball again? Scanned in between play. Players opening their position up to play the way they receive the ball?

3 Goals for second line passes which were introduced in the Rondo.

2 Goals for using wide players, back to centre and then a forward pass breaking the lines

1 Goal for player/ball arrives in the end zone.
