Setup
- 1 Large box approx 50 x 50 split into 4 equal squares with a ‘holding box’ central
- 3 Teams of 7 +1 neutral (one of the GKs)
Chasing team begins in the holding box and sends 3 defenders into a zone against 7 attackers.
Attackers seek to complete 6 passes before transferring to any of the other 3 remaining boxes. The other 3 boxes have at least 1 player from the spare team of 7 occupying it.
Whichever box receives the pass from the 7v3 is where the next 7v3 takes place.
Point for 6 passes, point for every time the defending team wins the ball
- play each team on defence for 90sec twice (10mins) then
Progressions
if defenders win the ball, the team they win it from goes into the central box and then sends 3 defenders out while play continues (5mins)
Press as a unit, be compact and dictate where the ball will go
Communication between pressing unit
Recognise pressing triggers to press more intensely; receiver's head goes down, poor touch, bad pass, player backed into a corner
Win the ball when the opportunity presents itself - be strong in the challenge
