Part 2:
2 v 2+ GKs. Defenders are conditioned to stay on there side of the line through the middle of the court. Primary objective is for them to put enough pressure on the ball player to prevent shots and passes. Secondary objectives are working on body positioning in different moments and cutting overloads into situations of equality. Last objective is to work with the Goalkeeper to maintain situations of equality and/or to give the defending team an overload.
Key Points:
Pressure on the ball
Maintaining good cover
Make play predictable
Maintain situations of equality
Communication
Role of the Goalkeeper

Part 1 (15 mins)
Part 1:
Two parts to this part of the session. First part is working in pairs. Player 1 passes the ball to his partner who then immediately attacks the player with the ball. The defender has to try and stop the attacker getting past his line.
The second part of the session is working in threes. One player starts in the middle and looks to play a one two with one of the outside players before attacking the other side. This gives the defender a chance to go tight and get the attacker playing back to goal and learning how to defend in this scenario as well. If he goes too tight then the attacker can spin behind and the server can feed the ball in behind instead. Defenders can be attackers when they successfully win the ball back. In the group of 3 scenario the defender must win the ball and play it back to the server to become an attacker.
Key Points:
Controlled Aggression
Making play predictable
Putting the attacker on the back foot
Forcing the attacker into awkward areas
Recognition of distances
