4 v 4 plus wide bouncers and coach.
Play starts with the coach who plays into players who are marked and in a position to shield the ball. The wide bouncers are also encouraged to play to players who are marked.
Players must take a minimum of 3 touches to encourage keeping the ball in 1 v 1 situation
Emphasise the session topic and make it a requirement that one player from the attacking team must successfully shield the ball from an opponent before their team can score.
The defending team plays possession and 6 passes equals a goal.
Rotate the attacking/defending teams every 3-4 minutes
Coaching points
Be strong on the ball
Use your body to protect the ball from the defender
Make sure you can "feel" the defender
Scan early to see where the defender is
Try and deceive the defender with a feint or body swerve
Use your arms to keep the defender at distance from the ball
Progressions
You can't pass back to the coach
You can't play back to the same bouncer
Remove wide bouncers, play 5 v 5 starting with the coach

SSG where the coach serves to players in 1 v 1 situation to observe prior learnings.
One team attacks the big goal and the other the small.
Rotate the team's direction every 3-4 minutes

Skill Introduction (25 mins)
Players play through a alphabetical sequence of passes as per diagram.
The yellow players take turns in acting as defenders. Start with passive defending and slowly increase the pressure to full pressure. Defenders will obviously know what is going on so a sensible amount of pressure applied without jeopardising the drill's objective.
Coaching points
Get your body in between the ball and the defender.
Take a couple of touches towards your next pass and away from the defender.
Use your arm to feel where the defender is
Have quick look at the defender's positioning
Progression
Increase the pressure by the defender
Increase the pace of the pass
Make the first pass a longer chipped in pass to increase the difficulty
