Key Learning Outcome
Players will demonstrate the ability to recieve the ball with different parts of the foot and prepare the ball for their next action.

Organization:
-2 x 2 yard recieving box, with cones 6 yards out on each of the 4 sides
-Players in groups of 4 with 2 balls per group
Instructions:
1. Two players each have a ball on the outside
2.One player works as the recieving player in the central square
3. The outside players must pass the ball into the reciever who must take one touch and then pass the ball off to the player with out the ball
4. The recieving player can only operate inside the central square
5. Rotate receiving player after a set interval
Coaching Points:
(1) use all the space you ahve
(2)Prepare the ball in the direction you want to play next
(3) Use the nearest surface of the nearest foot to play quickly
Progressions:
P - Players on the outside can move to any open side
P - Servers now throw the ball to the reciever
R - Make the central area larger - 3 x 3 or 5 x 5

Organization:
(2) 15 x 20 yard fields
2x6 players
2 goals in each field.
Instructions:
1.Players in the middle must receive a ball , control and move towards one side to score after feinting to the other
2. As the ball is travelling to the player in the middle, a player behind the receiver must defend the attacking player. Trying to prevent the turn.
3. Rotation: C to B , B to A.
3. 10 repetitions on each foot
4. Defender plays for a set period of time, then switches.
Coaching Points:
1.Use the right surface to receive the ball inside the foot.
2.First touch to move the ball in a new direction
3. First touch to prepare ball for the next action, a shot on goal
3.Head up for the next action
Progressions:
P-Vary the source of the pass.
P-Vary the position of the defender.
P-The defenders will be begin the activity closer to the attackers, forcing a quicker touch.
R-Defenders have restictions ie cannot pressure until after first touch of attacker

Organization:
-35x35 yard grid
-2 teams of 6 split playing 4v4 with 2 target players
-4x 5 yard gates (2 blue, 2 red) opposite each other
Instructions:
Team scores point by passing to target player, when target player receives ball he comes into the 4v4 play with his 1st touch and the player who scored by passing ball to him takes his place inside the target gate.
Team must then try to score by playing into opposite target player. (Team can play back to target just come from but only as support player and not to gain point, unless they lose possesion of ball then regain it so the direction of play has been reset to neutral and they can play into either target player).
First team to x points wins
Coaching Points:
1) Can you receive ball and turn to face the target player which need to play to next to score point.
2) Receive on the half turn/back foot when possible.
3) Play to a team mates back foot when possible.
4) Check shoulder regularly to assess your situation (pressure/space/opportunities etc.)
5) Speed of play (can I play quick enough to immediately score upon receiving ball).
6) Mentality to always try to play towards your goal first.
7) Can I time my checks to receive ball in enough space to turn and score.
8) Quality of checks/passing/receiving on the turn.

Warm-Up (25 mins)
Organization:
1. 30 x 30 yard area
2. 12 players (8 Servers, 4 Receivers) set up as shown
3. 8 balls (Additional around the outside)
Instructions:
1. Players on the outside of the circle start with the ball and ask for a wall pass from players inside the circle
2. Ask the players to receive the ball with the inside part of the foot
3. Once they make a wall pass, run as close as they can to the center cone and find a new partner to make a wall pass
Coaching Points:
1. Get in line with the ball
2. Select appropriate surface, Inside, Outside, Thigh, Chest, Head
3. Withdraw surface on impact
4. Arms out for balance and to feel for defenders
Progressions:
1. P-Vary the serve to make controlling more difficult
2. P-Add pressure by adding defenders
