Set Up: Attackers and defenders will be split up, half on one side and half on the other. Attackers working on getting the ball wide to cross or shoot. Defenders working on aerial balls and shape.
Instructions:
Defenders: Coach will play a ball into the air or on the ground and the defenders must clear the ball.
Attackers: Wall pass in the middle, long ball to the wing, ball is whipped in or shot. With the opposite winger, striker and 2 midfield attacking the ball.
Coaching Points
Defenders: clearances high and wide, checkmark
Attackers: eliminate the keeper from crosses, crosses are driven low and hard, curved runs, should be 1 player at the top of the box

Set Up: Balls are with the coach in the center circle. 4 cones are set up on the halfway line. Even amount of attackers on each line
Instructions: Ball is played in from the coach to the defenders, the defenders clear the ball, if it goes to the attackers they immediately attack trying to score. If the ball goes out of play from the clearance the attackers get a ball from the coach. Once a goal is scored, or it is out of play, everything is reset and started from the coach again.
Progression: Striker is now involved, can compete for the header and is involved in play (making it 5v4)

Battle Drill (Headers) (15 mins)
Set Up: 1 player from each team will be in the middle, with another 1 person per team will be around the coach. There is 2 lines behind the two players battling for the ball.
Instructions: The coach will throw the ball up into the air, the 2 players in the middle will battle for it in the air, once the first ball is won, the 2 players around the coach will battle for the second ball. (2 points for the first header, 1 point for catching the second ball)
Progression: Once the first ball is won, it's no longer going to be caught up the second player, you now have to get the ball under control.
Coaching Points:
- Compete for every ball
- When heading, elbows are up to protect yourself
- Don't just stand there, go meet the ball
