Counter Attacking - Conditioned Game

Organization

  • 1 defending team of 6 split themselves into each half. In one half it will be 6 attackers vs 3 defenders with the other 2 attackers in the other half.

The attacking team aim to play out and play into space in the opposite half, the pass must go into space for a player to run onto. Once the ball is in the attacking half, 2 players stay back and 4 join to create a 6v3 to goal in the attacking half.

Instructions

  • Once the ball is in the attacking half, 2 players stay back and 4 join to create a 6v3 to goal in the attacking half.

Once a goal has been scored or the ball goes out of play the goalkeeper will start the player from that side as they aim to play out and play the other direction.

If the defenders regain the ball they aim to play into their players in the opposite half to make it a 3v2.

Coaching Points

  • When running or driving with the ball, players must ensure they use their laces to push the ball into space or towards the goal.
  • When passing the ball on the floor, players should have their head down, standing foot pointing where they want to pass to with their ankles locked striking the centre of the ball.
  • Players should be looking to run in behind when possible, looking to move off the blind side of defenders. Players should use in to out and out to in movements to create spaces to run into.
